Biography

North Conway, New Hampshire

Mark grew up in North Conway, New Hampshire.  Mark was active in music, drama and Boy Scouts of America Troop 150 while in high school.  He was part of the Kennett High School Marching Band when it skiied (and played) in formation down Mt. Cranmore.  Mark’s summers were spent working at the In Town Market IGA grocery store on Kearsarge Street.

Mark pursued his post-secondary education at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.  He majored in Economics and Goverment.  Summers were initially spent managing the event crew for Arts Jubilee (a summer arts festival in the Mt. Washington Valley) and later working as a special officer for the Conway Police Department.  Mark graduated from Bowdoin in 1989 with his A.B (cum laude).

Washington & Lee University

Mark received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia in 1993.  While at Washington and Lee, Mark volunteered at the Rockbridge County Jail tutoring inmates working on their G.E.D.

Following law school,  Mark practiced law full time for four years with Moncure & Barnicle in Brunswick, Maine.  In 1997, he left the full-time practice of law to go to work for the Brunswick Police Deparment. In addition to working for the police deparment, Mark continues to practice law part-time as a solo practioner.  Mark is licensed to practice law in Maine and New Hampshire.

Mark’s final degree was completed in 2006.  He earned his masters degree in Public Policy and Management at the Muskie School of Public Service (University of Southern Maine).

Mark lives in Topsham with his wife and two sons.
